Bernie Sanders for President!

Postby maoman » Thu Jun 04, 2015 08:28

Bernie Sanders seems to me, a left-of-centre Canadian, to be the best man in the race. Does he stand a chance of beating Clinton, though?

I agree. Don't think he'll get past the Clinton machine though.

I'll vote for him in the primaries, but Clinton will almost certainly win the nomination, and if so I'll vote for her.

His running is a good thing because it will force more dialogue on issues of concern to liberals, and hopefully move Clinton more to the left.

Wonder if Hillary will bring this old essay up?

Ddidn't Sanders support the F-35, Lockheed Martin's troubled fighter jet that has led to hundreds of billions of dollars in cost overruns, because it is or is to be manufactured in Vermont? Can you say "Pork"?

Going from Obabanomics to Bernie-Leninism would be like going from the frying pan into the furnace. As we say here in Taiwan in the businessmen's dens of iniquity though, what's bad for America's economic competitiveness is good for Taiwan businesses so count me in. Bernie for president!

One of TCs posts actually made me laugh.

I have no clue who this guy is or what he stands for, but I'd like him to become CiC so that we can refer to him as Colonel Sanders.

He seems like a risky choice simply because he's too old. At 73 most people's mental faculties are on a rapid downhill slope, and he could simply kick the bucket at any moment. OTOH he appears to have some sensible ideas.

Winston: I don't get how policies like publicly-funded education and a wariness of trade agreements with China can be 'bad for America's competitiveness'.

This may help:
The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a proposed regional regulatory and investment treaty. As of 2014, twelve countries throughout the Asia Pacific region have participated in negotiations on the TPP: Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam.

Don't tell Bernie I told you who the actual members of the proposed TPP are though. If he ends up as premier I could end up getting one of those "publicly funded educations" socialists are so fond of meting out to capitalist swine.

Bernie Sanders for President?

Postby maoman » Fri Jun 12, 2015 14:53

He's too conservative for Canada, but considering your current crop of candidates, he's surely the lesser evil. Thanks for thinking of us, though.

The US has structures in place so people like Bernie cannot win.

he is actually going to help the GOP win because he will embarass and expose the other Dems during the debates for being fraudulent right of center politibots posing as liberals.

Seriously, TC? You're comparing a dead-centre candidate (left-of-centre? right-of-centre? hard to tell) with El Che?
