Christian Disgruntlement Over the "War on Xmas", 2015

And, how - exactly - are Christmas trees Christian?:

Jeremiah 10:1-5 "1 Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel. 2 Thus says the LORD: Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the peoples are futile; for one cuts a tree from the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. 4 They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it with nails and hammers so that it will not topple. 5 They are upright, like a palm tree, and they cannot speak; they must be carried, because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, nor can they do any good.”

So Christians should just get right the fuck out of Christmas, I say, and leave it to us pagans to enjoy. There is no Jesus in Christmas!

I must say that I am happy that the sad little Internet storm about the cups seems to be over. If you missed it, this is what happened:

1. A psychotic, media-loving Christian got outraged about Starbucks cups and also ranted about how he carried a gun into the store - wise pandering, but he (scarily) got millions of likes for his post.

2. Atheists and liberals (myself included) got equally outraged (after all - there was a gun, Fox News liked him, and mainly because his post was appreciated by a lot of people).

3. Then, upright Christians like Bristol Palin got outraged at the atheist outrage:

Even Bristol Palin Thinks The Starbucks Cup Controversy Has Gone Too Far

She accused liberals of trying to "make Christians look stupid."

(I'm biting my lip. I love you, no matter what you believe in.)

4. Smart Christians like maoman and others wisely pointed out to their friends that not all believers are that nuts.

5. Finally, the only people on Facebook more irritating than Christians and atheists had their chance to say how they had always been above it all. They probably posted memes spoofing the event.

6. I remove myself from it all, reminding myself to - in the future - not necessarily always go with the flow and be outraged at all that online outrage. And, I remind myself that - as far as Xmas goes - my Christian friends have as much right to enjoy the holiday as I do!

The people going on about the cups to start with were silly, but we should remember that horrific tragedies (if one is paying attention) are pretty much occurring world-round, all the time. It would make for pretty grim communication if we only spoke about the worst atrocities at any point in time.

Whoooooaaaaaa! I'll assume the best and that the CAPS means that that was in jest. Otherwise, it would have been an extremely uncalled-for Internet swipe.

I don't like people who believe differently? Utter crap. There are a number of people with remarkably different opinions to me that I am rather fond of (and they will vouch for that).

HATE and INTOLERANCE

Please! I will speak out on certain issues to try and further a wish for a better world, and I don't always get it right. The cup brouhaha, I admit, was horribly overrated.

I wish the world was a more beautiful place than it was right now. I wish there was more love and tolerance. Who doesn't?

But I am not optimistic.

As for me, I'm just sipping brandy and honey (my sore throat and cough remedy), waiting for someone to define 'gruntlement' so I can figure out what 'DIS-sgruntlement' is. Because if the Christians haven't been gruntled, I'm not entirely sure they're in actual NEED of disgruntling.

Here you go.
gruntle

gruntled

You're welcome.

Edit: For the record, I'm not gruntled (here, I think you can also substitute with "arsed") about the cups.

Edit edit: Oh, and it's the War on Christmas, not Xmas, you pile of heathens! :candycane:

If this thread shows anything, it is that the OT premise, "Christian Disgruntlement Over the "War on Xmas", 2015" is false and non-existent.
Just another sad attempt at mis-applying the language to achieve "victim" status.

Bu the way, I notice that 7-Eleven has some nice cheery red cups for their fine coffee.

(or maybe it's just another KMT plot...bwahahahahahahahah)

Not every Christian is disgruntled about this by the way. Your topic title is misleading.
I think you should just remove "Christian " from it or call it "Starbucks cups this Christmas season".
