Michelle Weber, after undergoing corrective heart surgery three years ago, won South Africa's second gold in the 10 000m swim.

In other news, Team USA is killing it with almost twice as many medals as the second placed country (Great Britain at last count). Way to go, Muricans! :e50c:

Never seen handball in my life, so I watched the France vs Spain women's handball QF live. Wow! Not a bad game. Frogs came back from 5-12 down at half time to tie the game 21 all. Went into overtime and the French won 25-24!  :e50d:

I've not really been following the Olympics much because I'm a cynical old git. However, what's with all this marriage stuff?

None of this has happened in previous Olympics. Everything these days seems to have to be a trend. I blame twitter.

Two whiteboys in the top three of the men's 200m semi-final 1. Talbot and Lamaitre showing us whitey can still run.

Good Lord. Bolt killing it in semi-final 2 with a 19.78 smashing Merritt's 19.94 from semi-final 1, AND he was jogging the last 20m with a big grin on his face.

It's going to be a fast final.

Elaine Thompson wins the 200m to add to her 100m gold. Excellent race between her and Dafne Schippers.

Edit: The USA ladies crushing it in the 100m hurdles final with a gold, silver and a bronze.

For two Olympians, a humiliating journey to Rio filled with gender-questioning

I find it terribly sad that these two women had to go through all that.

As long as it's kept to how people are born then I have no problem. Women born with internal testes should be allowed to compete against women. The difficulty will arise in the future as identity politics takes a stronger hold. I can see people born male sex demanding to compete against women if they consider themselves to be female gender. Renee Richards got away with it in tennis. Then it's going to become a farce.

Usain Bolt does it again, winning 200-meter Olympic gold

While Bolt failed to beat his world record of 19.19 seconds and Olympic record of 19.30 seconds in less-than-ideal conditions with a wet track, his 19.78-second time Thursday easily outpaced his foes. Running out of Lane 6, he executed a perfect turn and cruised past Christophe Lemaitre and Churandy Martina, both running to his right. The last 100 meters were nothing but straight, and Bolt extended his advantage as the other runners fought for silver and bronze.
De Grasse, who won a bronze in the 100, took silver at 20.02 seconds. France’s Lemaitre finished bronze with a time of 20.12.

Now we'll have to see if he can do the triple-triple (three golds in three successive Olympics in the same events) with the Jamaican 1x100m relay team.
