Your birthday's coming up.

As nice as it looks, those prices are too rich for my blood, mate. I'd be happy with a few beers with you, the missus and TK, over some of your home cooked yumminess or some "dirty food" down the road!

My wife's booked a table for us this Thursday. Obviously I pay. Hopefully it will be good.

I was warned by a colleague who lives in Tianmu that Il Mercato isn't as good as it used to be. Well, if that is the case I missed out because the meal we had today was outstanding. Totally delicious with excellent service. The best dining experience I've had in Taiwan.

Set me back 8,300NT for two adult 7 course options and one child set meal, plus two bottles of wine and two glasses of sparkling. It was good value for money, too. Fantastic selection of Italian wines (of which I know little, but the ones recommended to us were yummy). Before you are seated they take you on a little tour of the restaurant where the chefs knock up little amuse-bouches which is a really nice touch.

I'll be back!

I knew the bill was going to be around that figure, so it was less of a shock. I think for the quality provided it was good value. Probably a once every 6 months dining e experience for us.

They sell lots of Italian foodstuffs to take away as well. I recommend the cuttlefish sauce which is buy one get one free at the moment as it's going out of date (380NT for two 300g jars IIRC). I cooked it last night with seafood and pasta as a starter and it was seriously yummy.
