Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan dead at 46

Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of Irish rock band The Cranberries, died suddenly on Monday. She was 46.

O'Riordan died in London, where she was recording, publicist Lindsey Holmes said.

"No further details are available at this time," Holmes said, adding that the singer's family was "devastated" by the news.

Saddened to wake up to this news. One of my favorite singers and bands during my uni years.

Don't normally care too much about dead pop stars. But Tam Petty? Naw.

You heartbreaker, you.

In my bad taste spread bets my money would be on Dolores also being an opioid victim.

Saw that one. But at 88, that was a fairly good innings. Sorry to say, never heard of her. But I'll check out her children's stuff.

No, and it's odd because she's been buried.

EDIT: I have no idea if that is odd or not. Does the cause of death often get released after burial?

It can take months for such info to get out. For example, Petty and opioids. Was it not like two months later?

Cheers, yep you're right. The coroner's report is due April 3rd.

Mark E. Smith's gone at 60:

I went along to a Fall gig about 10 years ago with a friend who was a big fan. I gave up and went home after waiting a couple of hours. Supposedly Mark rocked up about three hours late and gave a really good performance.

I never really understood what all the fuss was about with the Fall. I enjoyed their cover of Victoria.

Well, it appears that ICRT's programme manager Paul Meador has taken the Crow Road. RIP, Papa Paul.

That's a real shocker. He was very good back when he did the morning show and Rock of Ages was great.

There are all day tributes to him on ICRT today playing the music he liked, so that means a lot of good tracks for a change.

Don't know. Don't care to know, actually. He was a good and decent bloke, to my knowledge. I know he wasn't well for a while and that's enough for me.
