Taiwan Typhoons 2018

Incoming! Looks like it'll start affecting us tomorrow (Tues.), and I'm guessing we'll have Wed. off.

Not liking this at all. The gummit takes a very cavalier attitude when this monster is looming. Really not looking forward to tomorrow coming home after work riding a storm.

Windy reckons tomorrow night and Wednesday morning. My bet is Tainaners will be going to work with heavy winds and a lot of rain. :twocents:

The 34-knot wind circle reaches us around 5pm today. Hopefully people will try to get home early today.

Dragonbabe informs me that school and work stop at 4 pm today. Expect traffic jams.

And they'll give a Wed off for Taipei, with the typhoon making it to China around 8am, so everyone is free to go shopping all day.

Gosh making it home was a real trial. Unbelievable crowds, like New Year, inside the MRT. First I waited at my usual station. Three metros later and I hadn't gotten in. We are talking Tokyo level of cramming people. Took the longest route back and it was a good choice, made it home smoothly.

Meh. Heading north. Another hysterical non-event. They may call off work, as they usually do when the worst has passed.

Ridiculous. I don't have to go to work today, but people one kilometer from me do. Taiwan politics is funny. Looks like the New Taipei crowd are going to be reelected.

Ko-pee called it right. Politics a la Taiwan-stylee. Pathetic, power-hungry, money-grabbing schlemiels. My NT$99 umbrella broke last night in Taipei City. I expect full, nay, FULL recompense for my soaking. And my PTSD.

Got many people working for me that live in Xinbei, office is in Taipei (Neihu). Wanted to be fair, so I gave everyone off!
Our rule is now that if Xinbei OR Taipei City call it off its off for all. We also try common sense (which doesn't always seem to work with weather).
