Directed by the same guy as The Orphanage. He's empahizing suspense and thrills. Oh yeah. And their animatronics rock.

None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Eat the delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth that you’re carrying in your heart like hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There’s no time for anything else
I'm not sure how it would fare against its predecessor. I mean the first movie was good on its own, and I never expected a sequel. Might be a cash grab though.
My daughters will be.
Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle.
Anyone seen it yet?
I made it about a minute through the trailer before giving up. Does that count?
It's marginally better than The Force Awakens, but it borrows a little too heavily from The Empire Strikes Back. Unfortunately, it doesn't advance the overall story very much. And, at 2.5 hours, it's oddly rushed with a bunch of stuff happening, well, just because. There's little to no time allocated for exposition--character or plot. In fact, a few plot elements are downright lame.
There is one major twist, and we get to find out about Rey's parents. Both Rey and Rose are good. Luke is OK (his island is cool). The others are still annoying (Finn) or useless (Poe). Kylo Ren is still not a very persuasive villain.
I'd say it's about on par with the prequels. Given that VII & VIII have been duds, I'm probably going to bow out of seeing IX, especially with Jar Jar Abrams returning to direct.
It does definitely borrow a little too much from Empire, but it was overall an interesting and exciting film. There are kids out there getting a good dose of action and adventure from watching this. There is enough to keep the children of the 1970's happy too. One thing missing was some kind of massive perilous beast to fight.
Mark Hamill was the stand out actor in the film. I thought he was brilliant. Won't get an Oscar nod, but he should.
I realise the movie has been and gone, but you'll probably enjoy this:
Pretty much everything said in this commentary could apply to the previous one, which IMO was utter shite.
Honestly, I'm as excited as your daughter!

I've probably had to watch Frozen a hundred times by now. By Disney standards it's quite watchable. I'm certainly not dreading the sequel.
