Established in 1971, the Hwa Kang Museum is the first comprehensive museum of its kind in Taiwan. Among their more than 50,000 collected works, the permanent collection consists of modern and contemporary Western paintings as well as Chinese paintings and calligraphy, photographic works of Lang Chingshan, Chinese ceramics from various dynasties, folk arts, and woodblock prints. Among these, more than 13,000 artifacts have been designated as items of great rarity, a greater number than any other university art collections can claim. The museum is open to the public, and admission is free.
